Thermal Stone Massage

Stone therapy has become one of the most requested massage treatments in spas and practices around the world. It is best applied using hot and cold stones to balance and energise. The heat and energy from the stones gives a deeper massage, increases circulation and will leave you feeling grounded, relaxed and happy.
Aromatherapy essential oils can be added to the massage oil to enhance the treatment further. I usually add essential oils to the stone heater for added benefits.

Thermal Stone Massage was originally brought to the UK by Mary Nelson 1993.

Warmed basalt stones are used for their earth energy, heat conductivity and smoothness.

The technique uses the warmed stones, placed on the client's body (over a towel) and also in the therapists hands, the heat gently penetrating the skin and muscles, helping the client to relax and de-stress in a very quick time. The stones penetrate up to one and half inches, very deeply into tense, tight muscles. One stroke from the stones is said to be as powerful as ten strokes with the hand.

Chilled marine or marble stones are used alternately with the warmed stones, to bring better balance and harmony to the body. The use of just warm stones can be too soporific so the chilled stones will close pores, revitalise the nervous system and re energise the body. These cold stones used during face massage help to clear congested areas, leaving you feeling refreshed and your skin appearing brighter and gently lifted. The Chakra stones can also be incorporated to enhance the balancing effects.
